Sony HDC-1500R HD Camera
Pursuing the ultimate HD system for today and for tomorrow, Sony sets another milestone in the history of multi-format HD camera systems - the HDC-1500R - offering a broader choice of interlace and progressive formats, much greater picture quality, and enhanced operational flexibility.
The HDC-1500R incorporates a newly developed CCD imager and DSP LSI - two key devices that allow it to achieve ultimate picture performance in a variety of scanning modes. The CCD used in this camera can accommodate all existing interlace and progressive scan formats ranging from 1080/50i and 1080/59.94i. It can also capture stunning 1080/59.94P* and 1080/50P* images - as well as delivering the highest-possible quality 720/50P image creation* (*1080/59.94P and 1080/50P signals can be output only from the HDC-1500R in a stand-alone configuration.)
Such high image quality is supported by the camera's convenient peripherals, which make installation and operation of an HDC-1000R system very smooth.
Sony HDCU-1500 Compact Camera Control Unit
The HDCU-1500 is a compact 3U half rack control unit designed for use with the HDC-1500 series cameras. The HDCU-1500 is equipped with a range of built-in interfaces such as HDSDI/SD SDI outputs, HD/SD return inputs, and a down-converted analogue composite monitor output. Both HDC-1500 portable camera and the HDC-1000 full size camera can be used with this camera control unit.
Sony RCP-1500 Standard Remote Control Panel with Joystick
The RCP-1500 remote control panel incorporates an LCD display with direct operation switches and a touch panel, which makes it a remote control panel that offers both ease of operation and multi-functionality that compares favorably with the MSU. The iris and master black adjustment block employs joystick type control. Up to four units can be mounted in a 19-inch EIA rack.
1080/50p ready and 3G Transmission upgradable
The HDC-1500R can capture 1080/50p and output from camera head as dual link. Moreover, using a 3G migration kit, the HDC-1500R will be able to upgrade to a 3G transmission system.
For broadcasters wishing to migrate to 1080/50p transmission in the future, Sony offers the HDC-1500R as future proof 1080p ready camera.
New CCD and DSP provides even greater picture performance
The use of a new, state-of-the-art CCD sensor ensures high quality images even at low light level. The high sensitivity of F11 at 2000 lux, together with a signal to noise ratio of 56 dB combine to deliver unprecedented picture quality.
Multi-format operation
The HDC-1500R can operate in a wide variety of capturing modes, including 1080 50/60i, 1080 24/25/30P. Furthermore, the CCD can capture 1080 50/60P images, which can be down sampled to deliver the highest quality 720 50/60P pictures.
Ergonomic Design
The design of the HDC-1500R is based on over two decades of Sony experience in manufacturing broadcast video cameras and camcorders, and provides a high level of operability. All control switches and connectors are in the most logical places and are positioned for optimum functionality and ease of use. The HDC-1500R's low centre of gravity design allows the operator to carry the camera comfortably on the shoulder. In addition, the shoulder pad of the HDC-1500R can be adjusted either forwards or backwards without using a screwdriver, so the camera can easily be moved to a well-balanced position.
Sophisticated large lens adaptor design with one-touch, cable-free docking
The HDLA-1500 large lens adaptor includes a unique mechanism which allows the HDC-1500R to be quickly and easily attached and detached without removing the large lens. No additional cable connections are necessary between the camera and adaptor, thanks to a novel "hot shoe" system.
Flexible selectable transmission system both digital fibre optic or analogue triax transmission
The HDC-1500R provides a fully digital transmission link to the base station. Using SMPTE standard hybrid fibre/copper cable, this allows completely transparent transmission of full bandwidth video and audio signals over cable length of up to 3000 metres. This ensures optimum quality HD signals can be delivered into any production environment. Moreover using the HDTX-100/HDFX-100 adaptor, the HDC-1500 can be used as triax transmission system.
Comprehensive range of output signals
Three outputs are provided as standard, which can be configured as HD SDI, SD SDI outputs. A built in downconvertor provides the SD outputs, and also one analogue composite output.In addition, two option boards slots are available which can be used to provide up to 8 additional HD or SD SDI outputs.

The HDCU-1500 is a compact 3U half-rack unit, for a compact system solution.
Compatible with HDC-1500 and HDC-950 series cameras
As well as the HDC-1000 and HDC-1500 cameras, the HDCU-1500 can also be used with the previous generation of Sony HD portable cameras, the HDC-950.Note that when used with HDC-1000 or HDC-1500 + HDLA-1500, utility power is NOT available.
Built-in down-convertor for full quality SD outputs
A high quality downconvertor provides SD SDI and analogue composite outputs. The downconverted outputs can have their aspect ratio set to 4:3, or alternative modes such as letterbox or 15:9.
Up to 1800 metre operation (even with LLA and large viewfinder)
The digital optical fibre transmission system used in the unit maintains the high picture quality of the camera across cable runs of up to 1800 meters.

What happens at the end of the lease?
We will extend the agreement indefinitely on payment of a single further monthly rental. After that you can keep the equipment and will never have to pay any more.
Isn't leasing just for companies who can't afford the cash?
No. Companies who lease do so because they know that there are better uses for their spare funds.
Is leasing only relevant for large acquisitions?
No. Transactions of all sizes are completed using lease agreements. You can lease equipment worth as little as £1000.
Do I have to insure the equipment?
Yes. It is your responsibility to keep the equipment insured for all risks for the term of the agreement.
What happens if the equipment becomes faulty?
You have the protection of the manufacturers and/or suppliers warranty. Responsibility for repairs out of warranty are yours.
What about VAT?
Rentals attract VAT. This can be reclaimed if you are VAT registered.
What can be included in the agreement?
Leasing enables the whole solution to be financed. This can include hardware, software, installation, training and warranties
Can the equipment be upgraded?
Yes. The equipment can be upgraded during the course of the agreement. Speak to us for further details.
Is it possible to settle the agreement early?
Yes. However we always recommend you speak to your accountant to make sure it does not create an adverse tax position.
Is there a penalty for settling early?
No. If you clear the account before it has run it’s full term then there is a reduction in the full amount payable.
Can I pay a deposit to lower my monthly outlay?
Yes. However you would need to contact us to find the correct figures based on your deposit amount.
