Canon Cinema EOS C500 4K EF

Canon CINEMA EOS SYSTEM takes another giant leap forward. The new EOS C500 comes out with support for 4K RAW output. Canon offers new possibilities for your imagination and creativity.

Supporting next-generation 4K-resolution video capture and RAW data output, the EOS C500/EOS C500 PL will achieve exceptional video results without any loss in quality. The camera’s uncompressed 4K output will unleash the full potential of Canon’s premium range of EF Cinema Lenses, combining with Canon Log Gamma, which delivers the high-quality video and wide exposure latitude required by digital cinematographers.

Furthermore, 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 signal during 2K (2,048 x 1,080 pixels) video output will deliver rich colour and high compatibility with image processes such as chroma key compositing. Support for frame rates up to 120p in both 4K and 2K resolution will provide enhanced creative flexibility, enabling high-speed (slow motion) video capture in high resolution.

A development prototype of the EOS C500 digital cinema camera will be on display at NAB 2012, one of the world’s largest events for the video, broadcasting equipment and digital media industries. NAB 2012 will take place from April 16-19 in Las Vegas, USA.

The EOS C500 capitalizes on the groundbreaking ergonomic design of the EOS C300 camera, and offers a new Super 35mm, 8.85-megapixel CMOS image sensor, DIGIC DV III Image Processor and an expansive range of recording and output options specifically for 4K and 2K image acquisition. Addressing the discrete needs of cinema and TV, the EOS C500 offers two forms of 4K origination - productions can dynamically select DCI (SMPTE 2048-1:2011 standard) or the alternative television-centric Quad-HD (SMPTE 2036-1:2009 and ITU-R BT.1769 standards) source image formats - and output a selection of 4K, 2K and HD digital sampling formats.

The EOS C500 features uncompressed Canon RAW output for both 4K and 2K recording. The Canon RAW output is delivered to external recording systems via built-in dual 3G-SDI ports. Dual uncompressed HD-SDI out ports supports external live monitoring. HD or 2K content can be written to dual onboard CF cards simultaneously to provide proxy video for offline NLE systems.

Canon has collaborated with some of the most respected names in the industry to ensure the standardized 4K/2K output interfaces work with external digital recording units, portable and master monitors and color grading systems - affording maximum flexibility to production and post-production teams.

4K support and Super 35mm equivalent approx. 8.85-megapixel CMOS sensor deliver superb image quality.

    Notes

Photolease is an independent finance company who have specialised in leasing equipment to the imaging industry for over twenty five years.

    THE ADVANTAGES OF LEASING

    1. Banking facilities left available for special projects and unforeseen expenses.
    2. Small initial outlay usually amounting to just one months rental.
    3. Payment can be spread over a period of one to four years dependent upon value and type of equipment.
    4. A single payment at the end of the lease guarantees retention of the asset for the remainder of its working life.
    5. If you want to sell the equipment after the lease has ended you will receive the sale proceeds.
    6. Rentals are fully tax deductible.
    7. Cash flow is protected and the asset earns revenue in payment of the lease.
    8. No need to be VAT registered.

What happens at the end of the lease?

We will extend the agreement indefinitely on payment of a single further monthly rental. After that you can keep the equipment and will never have to pay any more.

Isn't leasing just for companies who can't afford the cash?
No. Companies who lease do so because they know that there are better uses for their spare funds.

Is leasing only relevant for large acquisitions?
No. Transactions of all sizes are completed using lease agreements. You can lease equipment worth as little as £1000.

Do I have to insure the equipment?
Yes. It is your responsibility to keep the equipment insured for all risks for the term of the agreement.

What happens if the equipment becomes faulty?
You have the protection of the manufacturers and/or suppliers warranty. Responsibility for repairs out of warranty are yours.

    What about VAT?
Rentals attract VAT. This can be reclaimed if you are VAT registered.

What can be included in the agreement?
Leasing enables the whole solution to be financed. This can include hardware, software, installation, training and warranties

    Can the equipment be upgraded?
Yes. The equipment can be upgraded during the course of the agreement. Speak to us for further details.

Is it possible to settle the agreement early?
Yes. However we always recommend you speak to your accountant to make sure it does not create an adverse tax position.

Is there a penalty for settling early?
No. If you clear the account before it has run it’s full term then there is a reduction in the full amount payable.

Can I pay a deposit to lower my monthly outlay?
Yes. However you would need to contact us to find the correct figures based on your deposit amount.
